Long answer
Fiji water comes from a remote Pacific island considered one of the last virgin ecosystems left in the world. This designer brand is drawn from a single source in the Yaqara Valley on the Fiji Island known as Viti Levu.
Fiji water is advertised as artesian water. Artesian water refers to water that is sourced from an aquifer, an underground chamber that was formed naturally by layers of volcanic rock. The chamber is sealed with layers of protective rock, which keeps contaminating particles out, and pressurizes the chamber. To access the water, it is necessary to drill through the rock, creating a borehole or a well.
The purity of Fiji water is due to the natural process it follows on the way to the aquifer. On the tropical island’s rain forest, tropical rain falls and is filtered through layers of volcanic rock where it gathers minerals and electrolytes in their natural form. This is what contributes to the clean taste of Fiji water. The water finds its way to a natural artesian aquifer so far below the surface of the earth it is sealed off from external elements by many layers of rock. The water is forced to the surface by natural pressure. According to the Fiji water website, the water is bottled right there at the source and never touched by humans. No additional filtrations processes are required. Naturally occurring Fiji water has a pH of 7.5, making it fall into the alkaline range.
Fiji water contains the naturally occurring minerals, silica, magnesium, and calcium. This all-natural water conforms to all standard FDA requirements for purity and water quality. It is bottled in a BPA-free, high-grade PET #1 plastic. The bottles are recyclable. Fiji water is the most popular imported bottled water in the US, and can be found in 60 other countries.
