Long answer
DMT stands for dimethyltryptamine and is a potent hallucinogenic drug. DMT actually goes way back in history. It is assumed and thought to be the drug that tribes who lived in South America turned to. As stated before, with legality issues being involved DMT may not be your drug of choice. It holds higher than cocaine, meth, marijuana, and amphetamines on the illegal charts. This may be one of the most hypocritical facts of DMT considering it can be found right in your own lawn within the blades of grass. Believe it or not, it is also the chemical in which your brain exerts when you hit the REM stage of your sleep and begin dreaming.
DMT can be entered into the body by smoking, injecting, snorting, or by mouth. This can be favorable among many who are looking for this type of drug simply because they can choose between the different methods in order to get their high. The high they experience on average lasts from 10 minutes to 1 hour, depending on dosage. This is also favorable to many who use the drug.
The neurological side effects seen from DMT can be very serious. Some of these include an altered perception of reality, intense visuals (hallucinations), overwhelming fear or anxiety, an altered concept of time, flashbacks, and an overall depressing "trip". Physically, DMT is known to increase heart rate / body temperature, irritate the lungs, and cause nausea. Although it is rare to overdose on the drug, many users enter an unconscious state, vomit, and in turn, can choke and die.
